Home Visits

Please be aware that the doctor may telephone you rather than visit you if this is medically appropriate.

Ultimately it is the doctors right to decide whether or not a visit is appropriate for a particular set of circumstances.

If you need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 10am.

Telephone: 020 8299 1234

Home visits are strictly reserved for housebound patients who are unable to attend the practice. Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible.

Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP.

The community nurses are specially trained to care for people in their own homes. They work as a team and liaise with the doctors on a daily basis.

The service provides cover seven days a week and aims to help patients by:

  • Teaching them (and their carers) ways of looking after themselves
  • Providing care and support
  • Advising on staying healthy/preventing ill health
  • Referring to other services that may be able
  • Liaising with the GP if the patient wishes

You may also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby.
